Public Lecture on the Conservation of Peggy

If you are reading this you may be interested to attend a public lecture I shall be giving on the 16th of February 2022 at 18.00 GMT. Attendance will be by Zoom only and it's free! To obtain a ticket, click here.

The title and description of the talk are as follows:

'CAD and historic structures: re-constructing the schooner Peggy'

How do we record important information about complex three-dimensional objects when we conserve or restore them?

Drawing on examples from over thirty years of professional experience, Christopher will illustrate some of the challenges the historic yacht Peggy (1789) presents, and particular problems with respect to documentation due to its size, complexity and shape.

These factors will be discussed and possible solutions explored. Three-dimensional modelling, computer aided design (CAD), and Building Information Management (BIM) standards offer the prospect of novel solutions to the challenges of documenting such objects.

Hope to see you there!
